Frequently Asked Questions

Useful information, tips & tricks and frequently asked questions.

Why book with us

We are a small and friendly tour agency based in Sibiu, Romania. We started as a group of passionate people happy to show you the untapped beauty of this corner of the world. We also do our fair share of travel, so we also know what it all means from the tourist perspective – the ups and downs of the travel experience – and we think in some cases we managed to find a way of improving it; and this is precisely how we came to the current way of organizing our tours. Usually, when you embark on a tour, by bus or boat or otherwise, you will spend the next week going from one place to another carrying the entire array of bags, backpacks and other luggage(s) with you, plus you will pack and unpack daily. This can be an inconvenience.

We strive to offer you a different kind of experience, where we establish headquarters in Sibiu, a beautiful city located right in the middle of the area where we will do all the traveling – and which, incidentally, is also at the heart of Romania itself. From Sibiu, we will depart each day to the main destination sites – Sighișoara, Bran, Râșnov, Hunyad Castle and so on – and return in the evening to spend the night at the same accommodation place. No need to move your bags and luggage every day to different places, no need to waste your time packing and unpacking every night. Just carry a light bag with essentials, and even that is up to you really.

This means more time for you to spend the evenings either with us or on your own, wandering along the old city streets, going to grab a beer at one of the local pubs or discovering the hidden beauty of the surrounding areas.

Weather & Geography

Before packing, don’t forget to check the weather forecast for the days of the tour. Transylvania is a mountainous area and although our climate rarely sees dramatic changes in short periods of time, a quick rain or a sudden windy evening may occur during spring and autumn. Do pack a wind-stopper or an extra sweater, but our general recommendation is not to overdo your baggage with significantly more items than you normally wear. Besides, this also leaves room for more souvenirs 🙂

Special Requests

If you have any questions or special requests, or if you want to make any particular arrangements prior to your arrival, please do let us know in advance, to make sure we are able to arrange and fulfill them in due time. These include requests for exclusively vegetarian meals, mentions of known allergies or if you undergo any treatment for chronic illnesses. This will help us to be able to provide a comfortable and pleasant experience throughout your journey.

Travel & Medical Insurance

When you book a tour with us, you also get travel insurance and basic medical insurance included in the package. This insurance covers basic medical needs and standard travel situations and it is valid only during the tour and only in Romania. Whether you decide to purchase a separate insurance (travel, medical or otherwise) from a third party, it is up to you – though we highly recommend it.

You will also receive primary medical assistance for minor issues from a member of our team, who has all the necessary medical qualifications – example: digestive problems, jet lag, sunburn, joint problems and other similar medical situations.

Currency & Expenses

You don’t have to worry much about exchanging to the local currency or carrying many currencies. Sibiu has plenty of banks, ATMs and exchange offices, and international (debit and credit) cards are accepted in most locations. Checks or other forms of payment however are rather uncommon and very rarely used in Europe, so we recommend sticking to cash and cards.

  • For all EU residents, the recommended currency to carry is Euro (EUR).
  • For the rest of the world, we advise having your cash in US Dollars (USD).
  • Card payments are widely accepted in most places, so if you have a credit/debit card, it will most likely work in any restaurant, cafe or shop across the country.
  • Cash is also recommended for small purchases, like tips and small items, and it is recommended you carry it in the local currency (RON). You can exchange your EUR and USD at the local banks here or at any of the numerous exchange offices in all cities.

Either way, don’t forget that you can ask us anything and throughout the entire tour we provide personal assistance, absolutely free of charge, to help you change money or answer your questions about the peculiarities of how things work around here, and overall to make sure your experience with us is optimal.
